In the bustling halls of Changi Airport, where travellers rush to catch flights and embark on new adventures, a simple moment of unexpected warmth unfolded for @Robert Yap (Exec Chairman) and @Eugene Wong (Group COO) found themselves pleasantly surprised by a heartfelt encounter with a Changi Airport boarding staff during their recent trip to Vietnam for business.

As they were preparing to board the Singapore Airlines flight via Terminal 2 Gate E7, Eugene had his Swan & Maclaren Group backpack placed on the belt conveyor for security clearance. The bag caught the eye of a senior boarding officer and what transpired was a remarkable exchange that was out of the ordinary and had stunned both of our colleagues.

The boarding staff member had recognized the logo of Swan & Maclaren Group and took a moment to express his appreciation for the company’s contributions to Singapore’s history. With genuine warmth, he mentioned several iconic landmarks that Swan & Maclaren had built across the city-state, and now proudly flying the Singapore banner beyond its borders. His words were more than a passing remark; they were an expression of heartfelt acknowledgment of Swan & Maclaren’s contribution towards Singapore’s heritage.

For Robert, who had spent over three decades navigating the corporate world with companies like PSA, LVMH, and DFS, this encounter was unlike any other. In his own words, “In all my 30 years of corporate travels, NO ONE had ever said or complimented about any of the companies I’d worked for at security checkpoints. “. This chanced and heartfelt encounter had left an indelible mark on Robert’s appreciation of Swan & Maclaren’s heritage and what true legacy means.
